About Us

How this website came to be was from a group of us sitting in the living room of one of our good friends’ house trying to brainstorm on what to do to that room to make it more inviting. Our friend was looking for something that would not break her budget, but would make a dramatic difference. The furniture was comfy, the rugs on the hardwoods worked well. The room had just been newly painted a few years ago and it was in fine shape. Everything either had been recently renovated or purchased and seemed to work well together …except for … you guessed it – the window blinds, they were from the original owner, and looking at them more closely – was the only thing that did not work. Hey our task would be easy now that we figured out what needed to be updated – or so we though!

We checked out the local stores specializing in window coverings or treatments, but when approached in the store by a clerk, for something that we thought would be an easy decision suddenly became complicated. As the clerk started rattling off all the things we had to consider from the style of the room, the architecture of the window, how much light we wanted to have come into the room to the types of coverings ... draperies, shades, blinds, shutters … our eyes started to glaze over and we walked out with a headache and no window coverings.

So now where do we look? Well, we then started searching the internet for information. We searched a lot of websites, which took a lot of time for each website usually answered only one of our questions (and we had many... that salesclerk made sure of it!). We thought about all the other people getting one question answered at a time also and thought there must be a better way. So that is why we decided to build a site that would provide one place for where most of a person's questions could be answered ... and that is why we created Windowcoveringresource.com.

So we hope that you find our site useful and informative. And though we have tried to cover everything we thought would be of important use to our visitors, we are sure that there are hundreds of other questions still out there unanswered. So we are continually researching and building the site and adding even more quality information to help you in your quest to understand all the areas within window coverings.
