Sewing window covering, for the do-it-yourselfers

The first thing to know if you’re considering sewing window coverings is: you definitely don’t want to do it manually. Having a sewing machine is essential. But in this day and age, having such a commodity is pretty common, and most households have a sewing machine. Now, if there’s is someone capable of using it properly, that’s another matter.

Unless you had some custom made covering done for your place, you’ll most likely need to trim it down and adjust it to properly fit your windows. It’s not very complicated, and anyone with a steady hand can sew it fine. If, however, sewing is not in your list of abilities – you’ll need to find someone to do it for you: a relative, a friend, or someone willing to sew your window coverings.

There is only one thing worse than not having window coverings, and that is to have improperly adjusted coverings. You don’t want your drapes to be scattered around the floor with extra inches of fabric lying around. It’s all about the attention to details, and the proper adjustment. You’re the one living there, would you want it to be anything less than perfect?
